Another disgusting abuse of authority, this time from Maryland. The only hope of combating this encroaching police state is for everyone to be ready to record events like this at any time. Turn on the lights; the cockroaches will scatter. Police exist for the benefit of society, not the reverse. Police are not rulers or gods. The police and prosecutors do not have a right to not be inconvenienced; they do not have a right to abuse people for the authorities' own mistakes; they have to be held accountable for their mistakes and abuses, just like everyone else.
Throughout its history, the abuse of authority such as this example (and worse) has slithered along at the foundations of our society. Now the snakes are afraid because regular people can bear reliable witness against their criminal acts, so they seek to suppress anything that could expose them. The extent of our legal institutions' utter contempt for the law, at scales both large and small, becomes apparent. They think laws are for everone else, and any attempt to apply law to law enforcement is a pernicious attack upon their protected, exalted positions, or an attempt by bleeding-heart liberals to hobble them because hippies love criminals, or something.
Any Judge that could take this indictment seriously should be carted off to a mental health facility.

However, the scale of the Maryland State Police reaction to Anthony Graber's video is unprecedented. Once they learned of the video on YouTube, Graber's parents house was raided, searched, and four of his computers were confiscated. Graber was arrested, booked and jailed. Their actions are a calculated method of intimidation. Another person has since been similarly charged under the same statute.
